Stroke Aotearoa New Zealand
With the ongoing support of the Trust House Foundation, Stroke Aotearoa New Zealand has made a meaningful difference in the lives of stroke survivors and communities across the Wairarapa, Remutaka, and Porirua regions.
Each year, over 9,000 strokes and an unknown number of transient ischaemic attacks (TIAs) occur in Aotearoa. Stroke remains the second leading cause of death and one of the primary causes of adult disability in New Zealand.
Over the past year alone, thanks to the generous support of the Trust House Foundation, we’ve been able to reach and engage with over 800 people across these communities through free health checks, stroke awareness and prevention presentations and one-on-one support for stroke survivors and their whānau.
Together, we are working toward a stronger, healthier Aotearoa, one where fewer lives are impacted by stroke, and more people have access to life-saving knowledge and support.
