Porirua Basketball
Porirua Basketball would like to thank Trust House Foundation for providing funding for court hire, support for our League Coordinator and Operations Manager to continue to run our leagues, our development program, and our representative teams. This has allowed Porirua Basketball to send 10 teams to both regional and national championships.
Locally we have run our “Girls got Game” programs, provided referee, coach and score benching development and numerous pre high performance sessions, skills, drills, give it a go, have fun day programs.
Our league coordinator has worked hard to develop and run our tamariki leagues focusing on U7, U9 and U11 teams, this sees tamariki playing every Tuesday afterschool during Term 4 and our Wahine League runs on Tuesday night drawing teams from the greater Wellington region.
Our U13 programs running Term 2,3 and this year term 4, our U15 and U17 Term 1-3 and our U23 and Open Womens Term 2,3 and Wahine League term 4.
Porirua Basketball continues to work with our local Iwi Ngati Toa Rangatira to provide opportunities for them to have court time, coach development and refereeing sessions for their teams attending Poitukohu Maori National Championships.
Without the support from Trust House we could not have run all these activities for our community and provide them at a cost-effective rate. It allows us to run the development programs and leagues close to home so that all our community can participate.
Nga mihi to our U13 Teams who played in the Central Region U13 Basketball NZ Championships in October and produced some excellent results.
